Blocks forward vision, which prevents ram from charging
ID # 517
Product ID (SKU) # 53-SS506
Doesn't impair side vision, so that ram can still eat, graze, and drink. Greatly reduces butting, charging, and aggressive behavior. Please select large or small size.
Which size shield does your ram need?
See below to determine the size needed. It refers to adult, full-grown rams. The heads of ram lambs are smaller than adults--so a size smaller than shown might work better for them.
Small--Cheviot, Finn, IceLandic, Katadin, Navajo Churro, Romanov and Shetland.
Large--Border Leicester, Columbia, Corriedale, Dorper, Dorset, Hampshire, Lincoln Longwool, Montadale, Polypay, Rambouillet, Romney, Southdown, Suffolk, Targhee, Texel and Tunis. Benefits
The Ram Shield protects the animals and people from getting hurt. The shield can be adjusted to fit individuals and it comes in different sizes. How to Use
Polled Ram Shield:
1. Thread top strap through loop on each side of shield, to form a space for the ram's ear to fit through. 2. Place shield (with Premier logo at bottom, facing out) against the ram's face. 3. Insert ears into spaces between straps. 4. Fasten buckles around chin and around throat, and pull straps very snug.
Cutting the shield
Getting a good fit is not always easy, because every ram's head is different. A shield can be adjusted and modified (shown in "See More Photos) within limits. The depth that you cut will depend on how wide your particular ram's head is.
Start small with your cuts, and then increase if the eyes are still blocked from the side. You want to block the forward vision, not the side vision.
